For thousands of years, Doggerland was an inhabited landscape. By 5,000 BC it was submerged beneath what is now the North Sea. Prior to the 20th century, little was known about this environment, or the people who called it home. Modern advances in archaeological techniques have created an opportunity to study the submerged lands in detail, at precisely the time at which large areas are being closed off for research due to wind farm development. This talk will summarise the latest research on Doggerland and the scientific techniques used by the team at Bradford University, and will cover what we might learn about Doggerland in the next few years.
